Woman Opens Fire on North Carolina Officers

Johnston County Sheriff’s deputies told her several times to drop the gun.

This incident started when Johnston County Sheriff’s deputies and North Carolina Highway Patrol found a woman laying in the grass in front of a wrecked Yukon. Fifty year old Tina Renee Medlin stumbled onto her feet as deputies arrives on scene.

Witnesses had already told 911 that Medlin had a gun. Deputies told her to show her hands and she refused. One deputy says “I see a weapon!” as Medlin raises a gun and fires one shot at officers.

Both officers on scene first several shots at the woman, ending the threat. Medlin died three days later in the hospital after taking a round to the head.

Reports state that the officers were justified in the shooting.
