Cell phone footage shows a police officer struggling with a man as dozens of people stand around watching.
On Saturday night, Memorial Day weekend, at around 11:30 P.M. bystanders gathered around to watch a police officer fight with another man. From what reports say, the officer in the incident is a Louisiana Supreme Court police officer.
Witnesses stated that the 23-year-old man shot in the video was drunkenly yelling at people and punching cars. The officer’s name has not been released yet, but it appears he approached the man to get him under control.
A struggle breaks out between the two as onlookers laugh and make dumbass comments.
The first part of the video shows the fight starting between the officer and the suspect. As the two fall onto the sidewalk, a bystander beside them starts filming. The officer can be heard saying “I am a state police officer”.
Several “men” who approach look as though they might help the officer, but I guess they just wanted a closer look at the show.
The suspect is able to get on top of the officer and that’s when one shot can be heard. The camera man runs away, but then comes back. A bystander can be seen holding a shirt on the suspect’s gunshot wound.
