Seven people were arrested after breaking through a police barricade during an Alton Sterling police protest.
July 5th marks exactly one year since Baton Rogue police shot and killed Alton Sterling. Last year, officers were called to a mini mart after it was reported Sterling pointed a gun at someone. Officers tried to detain sterling, a fight broke out, and the officers ended up shooting and killing him. A gun was found on Sterling and it was ruled a justifiable shooting.
Yesterday, July 5th, New Black Panther Party protesters staged a protest in front of the Baton Rouge Police Department. Seven of the members ignored police requests to remain behind a barricade. A scuffle broke out between protesters and police which led to several protesters being Tased and arrested.
