An armed robbery call turns into a deadly police shooting in Sydney.
Sydney police responded to calls of an armed robbery yesterday evening. When they arrived on scene, they encountered a man armed with scissors. Four police officers surrounded the florist shop that the man was hiding in and told him to drop the scissors.
Witness state that the man then screamed “shoot me” and rushed at police. Police responded to the mans request by firing several shots into him. The man drops instantly and later died from his wounds.
Australian police are rarely involved in fatal shootings. One report states that between 2008 and 2011, police in Australia fatally shot only 14 people.
