Zarghee Mayan, 33, of Orlando, has been arrested and charged with aiding fugitive suspect 41-year-old Markeith Loyd, the man wanted for the slaying of Master Sgt. Debra Clayton, a 17-year veteran of the Orlando Police Department. Before killing Clayton, Loyd was wanted for killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend in December.

Mayan, was arrested by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department as an accessory after the fact to the first-degree murder of Loyd’s 24-year-old ex-girlfriend. Mayan was with the fugitive the night the pregnant ex-girlfriend, Sade Dixon, was murdered. Mayan was also with Loyd on Saturday, just two days before the murder of officer Clayton. Mayan may have been aiding Loyd with food and money, and allegedly said that he would kill any cop that would try to capture Loyd.

Authorities had raised the award-for-capture from $60,000 to $100,000, but it is not known whether the elevated bounty has anything to do with the information that led police to arrest Mayan.

17-year veteran police officer Master Sgt. Debra Clayton was attempting to bring Loyd in for questioning. She approached him in a Wal-Mart parking lot, and that is when she was gunned down. Loyd still remains at large.
